Wyoming 1950. Tijdens een achtervolging in een sneeuwstorm raakt Indiana Jones (Ford), in gezelschap van een Indiaan, ge[KA3]isoleerd in een blokhut. Hier vindt hij een saxofoon die hem herinnert aan een zwarte man die hem 25 jaar ervoor muziekles gaf, toen hij als jonge kerel (Flanery) in een (zwarte) club werkte. In flashbacks zien we dat hij helemaal op ging in de jazz-muziek die er gespeeld werd tot de eigenaar van de club vermoord werd. Plezierige fantasie op het INDIANA JONES-thema, echter met veel minder actie dan we gewend zijn. Indy ontmoet wel heel wat mensen die later legendarisch zullen worden. Zijn twee vrienden zijn Elliot Ness en Ernest Hemingway. Zijn muzikale leermeester Sidney Bechet en in de club treden mensen op als Lena Horne en Louis Armstrong. Het scenario van Jule Selbo is sterk anti-racistisch. Nostalgisch ogende fotografie van David Tattersall. George Lucas was uitvoerend producent. Dolby Surround.
