Behalve de film van Martin Koolhoven staan nog acht andere buitenlandse producties op deze lijst. Dat maakte Holland Film woensdag bekend. De negen films zijn geselecteerd uit een aanbod van 65 producties.
Op 2 februari maakt de organisatie van de jaarlijkse toekenning van de Oscars, de Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, bekend welke films uiteindelijk genomineerd worden in de categorie Best Foreign Language Film. De bekendmaking van de winnaar is op 7 maart in Hollywood tijdens het grote gala.
