Recensie
Een uitbundige musical met Preston dynamisch in de weer als Prof. Harold Hill, reizend muziekleraar, gestrand in River City. De plot speelt zich af rond de eeuwwisseling, Jones is Marian, de bibliothecaresse, Gingold is de burgemeestersvrouw. '76 Trombones' en 'Till There was You' zijn enkele van de songs. Een Oscar voor de muzikale bewerking.
